West Cornwall...

Cornish coastline

The Penwith peninsular is steeped in legend with bronze age villages, stone circles and fougous. A famous part of this area of outstanding natural beauty to those who know it, the far west is unique, even by Cornish standards!

Penwith remains unspoilt by time with a stunning landscape of rugged cliffs and moorland on the north coast, and steeply wooded valleys, small rocky fishing coves and wonderful sandy beaches futher south.

Glorious gardens flourish in Cornwall's mild climate, and there are several, such as Trengwainton, within easy travelling distance. Out door activities include walking - the coastal footpath in this area is a wonder to visitors and locals alike - sailing and, of course, surfing: Whitesands Bay at Sennen, recognised as one of Cornwall's finest surfing beaches, is twenty minutes away. There are several golf courses in the area, including Cape Cornwall golf club, worth a round for its fabulous views alone!

The light and landscape have drawn many artists to Cornwall over the years, and the area is rightly famed for its rich artistic heritage; there are numerous galleries locally at newlyn, Penzance and St Ives, home to Tate Gallery St Ives.
